HOW DO WE KNOW YOU CAN HELP US?
I’ll be honest with you. There’s no guaranteed end time to your child increasing the number of foods they eat.
In the meantime, I’ll ensure your child is getting all the nutrients that he/she needs to grow and thrive. And that your mealtimes will become less stressful and more enjoyable for the whole family. I’ve been a registered dietitian for twenty years and have worked with thousands of parents over this time. I’m a highly skilled in motivational interviewer and behaviour change therapist. And I have completed several feeding therapy courses for health care professionals. Choosing the right person to get help and advice from can be confusing. Many people claim to be nutrition, and feeding experts yet have minimal knowledge and may give unsafe information to you and your child. Anybody can tell themselves a Nutritionist, a Nutritional Therapist, or a Children’s Feeding Expert. They’re not allowed by law to call themselves dietitians. The title ‘Dietitian’ is legally protected in Ireland; only people who are registered with CORU can use this title. Dietitians registered with CORU meet the highest standards of professional conduct, education, training and competence.
I’M BREASTFEEDING, WILL YOU SUPPORT THIS?
Of course! I’m also a lactation consultant (IBCLC), and fully supportive of mothers feeding their children for as long as they wish. There’s no reason why you can’t continue to enjoy all the benefits of breastfeeding and put helpful feeding strategies into place.
“If you are like me and have a fussy eater on your hands then Solid Start is where you need to go. Not only did this course make me look at the way I associate food with my son, it also made me look at the way I treat meal times. As Caroline says it should not be stressful, that is the biggest lesson I learned today, that and how important family meals are. I have come away really excited and enthused about developing a healthy and happy attitude for our whole family from today on. Caroline’s approach is very relatable as you know that she is speaking from experience having 4 children herself. She isn’t just doling out information from books, she has tried and tested what she is saying. Her honestly about things that have and have not worked for her make you very comfortable in the knowledge that you are doing a good job. I would highly recommend attending this class”
